( Man in Red hat )'s first AMD build

QVL has up to 105w listed…

The 3700x is rated for 65w… so no problem
Id only want up to a 3700, since I dont over clock and could save $20-40 (guessing)

it says it can, but I dont think I would. At least not with extended heavy loads.

I bet the heatsink below the socket has more VRM stuff. It looks like the entire top half of the motherboard was rotated 90 degrees counter clockwise. Even the 24-pin looks like it’s at the top of the board instead of the right side.

You’re right, Thats gotta be the RAM VRM and maybe SOC.

I bet its 3 phase under that other heatsink.

Ok so maybe its 4 + 1 possibly? or 3+2

ram vrm is off to the side not visible in your pictures. Either way that should be enough power stage to not cook the thing with a 3950x in it. It certainly wont boost to the moon, but it will hold.

ASRock is fond of the 3+2 layout, so I’d guess that is what they are using again.

Either way, a three or higher phase design should be fine for even 105W CPUs without an OC in my opinion.

Yeah 3 is fine

Lot of blue lights for a Team Red build  :smirk:

Otherwise, 10/10

I couldnt immediately tell that was a choke from the side profile.

It’s a 3+2 likely yup, i think that i see two driver chips.
One at the Soc rail and one for the Vcore rail.
Controller likely an Intersil.
