M.2 card compablity with "min PCIE"

I have m.2 WIFI card
“INTEL dual band Wireless-AC 7260”
Model: 7260NGW

Originally I found this card in Lenevo laptop(Which I bought from Ebay cheaply and sold for parts) as I remember it was plugged in regular “min PCIE” slot.

So my question is how compatible are m.2 cards with “min PCIE” slot?

I wonder this because
My UX32VD Laptop has “min PCIE” slot. In which currently I have original Intel wireless N card, and wondering if I could upgrade to this card?

Mini PCI-e uses the same connector as mSATA (all be it wired up differently), but the two aren't interchangable. Since it's a different slot from M.2, you can't use M.2 drives in mini PCI-e slots.

Even if it was the same slot, generally, laptop manufacturers will mess with their BIOS so that the slot can only be used for WLAN adapters.

Isn't the msata and the m.2 different interfaces?

I Just double checked it and I did found this m.2 WIFI card plugged in to the "min PCIE" slot.

I am not trying to plug anything else except of wireless card in the "mini PCIE".

FYI there is the reason why they screw up this interface in BIOS this is due to.
1st. Is for the wireless disable enable features.
2nd. Is FCC frequency regulations.

M.2 and mini PCI-e aren't interchangeable.

Can you take a loot at the pictures i just included?
I found that card in that slot on the motherboard, one with crude red circle mark around it.

That's an m.2 slot. It might say mini PCI-e because it can only run in PCI-e mode, not SATA.

Oh sorry all for doubting you all.
I thought that on the motherboard was MINI PCI express.
But I just took a closer at my mini PCI express wireless card collection, and realized the notch is in the wrong place.

So no the motherboard that slot is called MSATA. Am I right?
but what this cards interface is anyway it is m.2 but which type?
