Looking for a remote desktop tool for linux

Hi everyone! Can anyone recommend a good remote access tool for connecting from Linux to Windows? Besides Teamviewer and Anydesk, what do you guys use? I’m looking for something reliable and easy to set up, with basic features like file transfer and unattended access.
Thanks!

Rustdesk is what I would suggest. Im trying to get this as a poc started at work.

Rust desk. And they have an experimental version that allows connecting to Wayland without a user previously logged user. I tried with gnome/wayland and its excelent.

if you’re in Gnome-land: Gnome Remote Desktop + Windows RDP (mstsc). It works

Depends on your use case but if windows is you host machine I’m pretty sure you can setup Parsec on it for free and it’s fairly low latency. Otherwise some VNC service behind SSH would be recommended. I once used Tiger VNC with cygwin’s SSH host back when I needed to remote into a windows machine. Could also use sunshine/moonlight with a similar configuration.

RustDesk works great. I use it on both Windows and Linux to connect to some Linux and Windows VMs.

Extra plus, you can locally run your own relay, so no need to go through someone else’s server/service.

2, 3, 4th? RustDesk here. You can self host the Rust Relay. With VPN, you can connect to the remote client without any relay. For Wayland, they’ve improved the single interaction by automatically disconnecting and reconnecting which is how you’d get around it in previous versions. Just like VNC, when you log into a Linux UI, you would have to disconnect the session and reconnect after you logged in.

I rdp from my linux to win11-home box.
I was using Parsec for awhile, but I didn’t like it requiring login for my LAN connections.
I tried sunshine/moonlight but that’s more for streaming and I needed more access options.

I’m using rustdesk so far over direct IP and its been working good for my needs.
