Long time lurker, building a new rig

Hello all, long time lurker that's finally gotten around to posting. I've been following Logan and RTW for around a year or so, I knew about it from Xfxslayer91 if anyone remembers him, started watching Logan when he went back to TigerDirect and been a fan since.

Anyways, I'm getting around to building a new rig after a long time. So far I'm looking at this motherboard:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813131831

I'll more than likely be getting the i5-2500K and I'll be carrying over my Radeon 5750 from my older rig. This rig will not be my primary rig and I'll more than likely set it up in my bedroom. The case I'm putting everything in is this: http://www.nzxt.com/new/products/crafted_series/phantom_410

I'm looking to not spend over $500, so I come to the community for assistance. Recommendations for the other parts would be greatly appreciated, and feel free to voice other options for the parts I have chosen.

EDIT: Also, this won't be my primary rig. I only need to run things at about medium settings, though high would be nice.

Definitely don't get that motherboard. The PCI-E slot only runs at X4 which is going to severely bottleneck your video card. I would suggest getting one of these boards:

ASUS P8Z68-M Pro: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813131786

ASUS P8Z77-M: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813131832

Are you looking to just play games on it? if so then I would recomend...

Yeah, the 212 is great, especially if you're on a budget.

the + version is up for 19.99 if you are super hard up for cash

If your aren't going to buy a new cpu soon. You could shave a few dollars buy not buying a z77 and going with a z68 especially with the i5 2500k (if you have a microcenter near you then OMG your in luck go there, they have discounts for MO/CPU combo).

I would recommend the P8z68 LX, it doesnt have all the bells and whistles (but I don't you will need that especially as your secondary computer). I use this MO, never has given me problems.

Now, don't take only my word on it. I hope someone replies to help or disprove what I have said (which is chill with me).

Also, good case. NZXT case are tight.

That's the second slot which runs at 4x. Look at the first slot, its PCI-E 3.0 x16.

Alright, so I picked up this motherboard yesterday: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813131825

I'm not really planning on oc'ing or running in SLI or Crossfire so it works for me.

I also just ordered this PSU: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=17-371-059&SortField=0&SummaryType=0&Pagesize=10&PurchaseMark=&SelectedRating=-1&VideoOnlyMark=False&VendorMark=&IsFeedbackTab=true&Page=2#scrollFullInfo

I'm looking at this RAM from Corsair: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820233144

As much as I would have actually preferred getting a z68 board, that was all Fry's had. I already have HDD's I can use so I'm good there. All that's left it seems is a CPU and RAM and then I'm good to go. I'll probably get a couple fans and a CPU cooler as well. Hopefully it won't be too crammed lol.

Well..have fun with your bottlenecked video card then. You're probably going to lose about 25% of its performance with that motherboard.

They're not PCI so they're not in the same bus. PCIE 3.0 x16... I fail to see how that would bottleneck it?

wellcome to tek/rtw yea get a gtx560ti or better i would say

Oh my bad. I only glanced at the product description and they were advertising PCI-E 2.0 X4, but it has a full bandwidth PCI-E 3.0 slot once you open up the spec sheet. Not sure why they're advertising the slower slot in the product description....

I wish there was a microcenter near me. I live in Austin, and the only two in Texas are in Dallas and Houston. And yeah, their cases are awesome. I got the white with black trim and I plan on putting red LED fans in it. I'll be sure to post pictures once I've built it.

Ok, rundown time.

MOBO: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813131825

PSU: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817371059

RAM: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820233144

For the processor I'm looking at either an i5-2400 or i5-2500. I'm not going with an unlocked one as that would be rather pointless with this mobo, and I feel the 2400 would do just fine, but I'm always looking for feedback. GPU is a ATI Radeon 5750. The PSU should be able to handle all of that right?

Yeah, the PSU will easily cover all of that.
