Logitech G703 & Linux?

I’ve picked up a G703 on sale but haven’t opened the box yet as I’m still decided whether I want to keep it. Following a search it looks like Logitech has poor Linux support but I’m looking for someone with hands on experience trying this. Does the lighting of the mouse work at all on Linux? Can I set the colours on a windows machine, move the mouse to my Linux machine and have the lighting stay the same? Can I customize all of the mouse buttons?

I see that there exists some git repo’s to address functionality of Logitech keyboards but I don’t see any equivalent for the mice. Anyone who has tried this and can respond would be much appreciated.

No matter what your wouse will work however you program it. Linux, Mac, Windows, AROS, Haiku, OS doesn’t matter. The mouse has an 8MB storage on it for macros, lighting, and separate keymaps. More often than not its keyboards that have horrible support because they have no storage (unless you get the ones with the programmer’s screen on them).

Config your mouse in a VM or something and it’ll be fine. Thats what I do at least.

From my experience there is no linux support for logitech peripherals, but the on board memory means you can set it up in windows and it will save those settings for use on any machine. I’ve got the g500, g500s, g502, g600, g700s, and g900. They all have some capacity of storage. Though some of the on board memory is limited in certain features. For instance I had problems doing multi key macros on the g600. The logitech software would only let me use some of the features (like game detection for obvious reasons) while the software was running, though this is really minor. Keybindings, custom DPI scaling, lighting, all stored just fine. I find myself not even using the features I cant use without the software. Once set up I tend to not even bother messing with them.

Thanks for the feedback. So it sounds like it’s usable enough. The only question now is if I want a mouse with shiny lights that needs recharging every few days or the G603 with no lights but can last 3-6 months.

is it even wireless?
