I recommend gparted because for a new user its dead simple to use.
Also system rescue has many of the tools you need to recover and repair a lot of issues
The viking iso is an os in itself with a large toolbox.

Cfdisk and fsck are two powerful command line tools

also one can just copy/paste partitions. it’s really clever, and also you can expand the progress boxes to see the back end instructions
