Linux mint 17.3 | killed it yester day

Oh no problem, in the end what it matters is that you solved it.
Drivers updates are handled like every other update, the package manager (dpkg in our case) handles all of that. So you'd update them like you'd normally do, either by using the command line or the graphical update manager.

Great man. Success! I've learnt some today too. Since I started using linux I think I've learnt as much helping others, as I have solving my own problems. Can highly recommend it :D
