Extremely hard, he comes from a long line of cattle hearding dogs. Trying to domestic a wild animal is tough

So I came home to a dead chipmunk. Before I could get it the cat ran off with it. Anyways I woke up and found it on my computer chair today.

from making other animals extinct, plus general fauna destruction, plus lack of significant/intrinsic “value” (for example dogs can sniff bombs, even yesterday saw a post on reddit of a dog scratching an electrical outlet and it seems that the outlet was faulty)… i really starting to believe the only ppl who like/love cats must be infected by the toxoplamosis parasite

People do all these things as well on a much larger scale. Given the choice, 90% of the time I’d rather hang out with a cat over a person. But you do you.

They’re actually really good at keeping rodent populations down though (ie they eat rats and mice)
Or keep your cats 100 % indoors, enjoy an automatic bug and fly termination squad and parasites don’t even enter the picture in 99 % of the cases if you feed the cats properly.
The famous Toxoplasma gondii is introduced into humans via cats by them eating wild rodents that are infected with it and then you not taking proper precautions when cleaning the cat litter box.
My two cats at now 6 years old luckily still haven’t been sick a single time (knock on wood) but I always wear a FFP3 mask (European standard for masks, filters 99 % of all aerosols when worn properly) when cleaning the cat litter box.

My cats are indoor cats with a catio accessible from a window inside. The catio is covered but small animals can get inside. Not my problem that the birds, snakes, shrews and chipmunks are dumb enough to go near a catio with 4 cats in it at any given time.

No criticism from me there. Just have an eye out for potential parasites and other illnesses and protect yourself properly.
Catios are the perfect solution in my opinion, the main reasons I don’t let my cats free-range consist of me growing up with multiple neighborhood cats run-over by cars in front of our place and also cats vanishing without a trace.

We do love pets cause men and women and kids fail so hard.
Even if we switched to goldfish only pets… Parasites would find a way in time. I think we science up medical tech. Get AI on cancer and then cat parasites
