Let me introduce you to the fascinating concept of Magnetohydrodynamics and MHD drives. :sunglasses:

There is no magnetic field involved in the propulsion in this case but it is not necessary. This concept works in air, so you could really make a completely silent airplane. There are three major problems though

  • poor power density
  • still veeery low efficency
  • the resulting ionized air ( ions are nucleation catalysts and in big quantity can have a lot of other side effects )
