Laptop USB Mouse sleep/hibernate/freeze/stops working after 5 (?) seconds

Haven’t installed Linux on a laptop in several years. Got a new laptop and after fresh install the damn mouse stops working after 5 (?) seconds. Had the same problem last time I did an install on a laptop. And to save my life I can’t remember where or how I fixed it. Any help?

P.S.: The laptop in question is a ThinkPad 595 ( AMD/AMD ) with opensuse Tumbleweed. But is not an issue on my HP Dev One.

I have my 5c on aggressive power management.

You can try turning it off using the powertop utility. Click the tab key until you are on the “Tunables” tab, use the arrow keys to scroll down to your mouse device, click “Enter” key until the device shows “Bad”, meaning power management is turned off.
