KVM with CalDitgit TS4

Hello there.

I’m currently using a L1T KVM (1 DP version) along with a CalDigit TS4. Here is a my setup:

  1. PC → KVM → Display/Keyboard/Mouse/etc.
  2. Macbook Pro (Apple Silicon) → CalDigit TS4 → KVM → Display/Keyboard/Mouse/etc.

I’m currently using a powered USB hub for all of the peripherals (keyboard, mouse, webcam), which I then connect to the USB3 port on the back the KVM.

While everything works perfectly with the PC, my MacBook is failing to detect these peripherals. Connecting the hub to HID port doesn’t solve the problem either. I connected it straight to the TS4 hub and it works again.

Does anyone have any ideas on why this is happening?

Any help is highly appreciated.

Thanks.

I believe if you open the console on your mac you’ll see “Hub depth exceeded” errors.

Is the KVM plugged into a USB-A port on your TS4? If so, try switching it to one of the Thunderbolt ports instead.

Hi @radamssmash @wendell

Thank you for the replies.

I’m connecting the KVM to the TS4 via the USB-C data port with a USB-C-to-USB-C cable.

I’ll try using one of the Thunderbolt ports on the TS4 instead then.
