KVM thanks and curiosity

First off, I ordered the four computer KVM and it’s great. 10/10 recommend. My only regret is I didn’t get one sooner.

Two questions I’m curious about:

  1. I’m starting to go down the EDID rabbit hole and was curious why L1 didn’t build EDID/hotplug maintainer functionality into the KVMs? Not criticism, I’m just curious and learning about the space. Is the technology super flakey and hard to support? Would it make the BOM expense not commercially viable? Something else?

I bought a DP-HP-MNTR-SRC for experimentation and will follow up with how that changes my workflow.

  1. Do you have a sense of when DisplayPort 2.0 will roll out and what that will mean for KVM offerings? Do you have a sense of those timelines both for devices as well as for supply chains of such a product? I’m likely 2 years out from upgrading my monitor and curious what the upgrade path would be for a KVM solution.
