I mostly follow L1 for the Korean monitor reviews, however most of the reviews focus on refresh rate and other things that are important to gamers.
For me though, I work with digital art so color gamut coverage and accuracy is important for me. I have a display calibrator so the monitor doesn’t have to be accurate out of the box, however it should have a panel that can at least cover most of DCI-P3.
Is there a list of korean monitors tested by L1 and what their verified color gamut coverage turned out to be? I really have no idea as to what korean monitor I should buy for my home/work pc.
Look if noone knows an answer, what good is it to answer then?
Not that I know of. Wendell hasn’t been reviewing Korean monitors for a while now, mainly because there are equally good not-import options at this point (like the Pixios), that also don’t have as much of a risk of faulty panels.
And at the time he did review them, he didn’t have the Spyder 5 yet as far as I know. There might be a handful where he had it already, but definitely not all of them.
Not to mention a lot of those Korean Monitor “brands” disappear just as quickly as they pop up and the reviewed monitors might not even exist anymore.
On a side note: If you’re doing professional work you can probably get a tax deduction on the equipment you bought for it, so looking into standard monitors is not too far fetched when the tax deduction might be the difference to a Korean monitor. Not to mention manufacturer support as mentioned above.
