So, I just got the KM304 and found out all of my redragon keyboards don’t work (I have several because I think the build quality was a bargain for the price and I had just gotten through dealing with expensive Corsair keyboards).
Right now my main keyboard has macro keys to the left of the normal keyboard (K596RGB if anyone cares). Is there a similar keyboard that works with HID inputs on LevelOneTechs KM/KVMs? What are some good brands? At this point, I’d ideally like something where the programming is open-source, I think, so I was QMK-capatible boards a bit, but I am not familiar with them. Spent the last couple of hours dealing with how this didn’t work – I eventually figured out there are keys I can program on my Redragon mouse that the KM switch registers the macros for, so that’s nice.
Open to other suggestions too. I didn’t see any obvious topics on this in a quick search, but if I missed one, you can link to that. Ideally I’d like a few suggestions. I know Keychron keyboards work, though I haven’t seen any with hotkeys. I would ideally like to NOT spend $200+ dollars on a keyboard.
I appreciate any thoughts or advice. Thanks.
Choose a keyboard that supports QMK/VIA firmware; it allows you to customize macros using open-source software and is compatible with Level1Techs KVM.

Yes, I think I am mostly looking at the KeyChron ones since they seem the easiest with most support and for starters I just want one that works easily. But since there are so many options, I wasn’t sure if there wasn’t something better or worth considering.
I got a Keychron K0 for extra hotkeys (numpad), and a Keychron Q5 HE, and now I am working on setting them up for QMK and VIA. Got them at my local Microcenter so I can return it easily if there are problems.
i’d go with Keychron that supports QMK/ VIA. It should work better with the KM304 since macros are stored on the keyboard, not handled by Windows software

The issue seems to be not that the keys aren’t on the keyboard, but in how the keyboard presents itself as multiple devices to the OS. The KM doesn’t respond to every device pressing keys, it seems. I don’t know enough technical details beyond that. I did get a Keychron keyboard, but looks like I’ll need to make a custom firmware for it to work – shouldn’t be too much of an issue. I could go get a different one, but I like these magnetic switch keys a lot.
