Well i just built my pc and need some help ... i plugged in a wireless keyboard and it wont let me hit f1 or f2 ... do i need a mechanical one?

where do you have the keyboard plugged in. If it's plugged into a usb 3 slot plug it into a usb 2 slot. a ps2 slot will work just fine. and also check the usual stupid stuff like batteries etc.
