So I just did a fresh install of Firefox and noticed this…
I was able to remove the other options, and it gives me the option to remove DDG, but not Google.

It’s because Google search is set to your default. If you change it to DDG for example, you can then remove Google from the search shortcuts.
Oh thanks lol. Blonde moment. I’m so used to using DDG I skipped setting is as the default.
Hmm - why are you removing these search engines? I assume that no code is activated related to those unless the respective search engine is selected.
On increasingly rare occasions I use the google or amazon or ebay search engine…
Of course, if you know that you’ll never use it you may/should remove those …
If your default search engine is DuckDuckGo, you can make use of their Bangs feature.
The reason I remove them is because on the rare instance I want Google having my search data, typing !g is more convenient than switching a drop down.
I learned something new. Thank you!
Firefox has native ability to switch search engine without using the drop-down. Just type duck
and hit <Tab>
and it will select DuckDuckGo, and it works the same for any search engine you have configured.
