also i would recomend to buy from a proper hardwareshop like mindfactory.de (MisterAngels partpicker also used some parts from them you have to ad 30€ for international shipping though) ive created a shoppingcart with a similar build for 1480€+ 30€ shipping to italy.
the changes are: * 32 gb ram (2x) * larger hdd (2x) * slightly larger, cheaper ssd * bitfenix case (looks nice, only 50€) * bequiet cpu cooler (half the price similar performance) * bequiet psu (630 watt still gives you enough power for a second gtx 970) * optical drive( because maybe you want to read a dvd or rip music cd and its just 16€)
i dont know any italian shops but you can probalby get a similar price. *note i would order the a psu from an italian shop because mindfactory ships with german CEE 7/7 powercables.
I´m not sure if the shadow rock cooler is certified for 140W and more TDP of head dissipation. I purely choose for the Cryorig, because it was €10,- cheaper then the Noctua NH-D15, which both are top of the line aircoolers, you realy going to need a very decent aircooler for Haswell-E. Shadow rock is not the Dark rock pro for that matter.
For the rest it looks fine to me, Only i´m personaly not a huge fan of Be-quiet psu´s. Some units had a bad reputation in the past, and Haswell-E is a powerhungry platform. Thats why i choosed for a more decent option according to the psu. THe EVGA Supernova G2 units are decent quality, you dont realy wanne cheap out on a psu on this platform. The Be-quiet unit you selected might be a decent unit, i need to look into that eventualy. Their higher wattage units are often decent, but not fully sure about their lower wattage units.
For X99 and productivity, i would recommend to go with a quad kit. Because X99 platform supports quad channel memory, which basicly means that you will get more bandwith availeble with a quad kit. This might be a benefit for render times. The most nice option would be, if you could spend arround €60,- more on the ram and directly jump into a 4x8GB kit, can realy be handy for rendering large video files. But ofc 4x4GB would be fine as well to start with.
About the case, there are ofc other allot of other cases to choose from. It depends allot on your personal taste and preference aswell ofc. Phanteks enthoo pro, or NZXT cases are also decent.
the cooler is rated for 220 watt dissipation, that leaves plenty room to overclock :)
on be quiet psu reputation i can say that in Germany it is the dominant psu maker. if you sort by populaity on any german hardware store be quiet is all you will see ;) maybe we are al biased because its a german company.
I usa a 500watt bequiet from 2008 which was used heavily by my older brother who replaced it with a newer 600watt psu for multi gpu usage 2 years ago we never had issues with it so our youger brother got another be quiet psu for his first pc.
But I dont want to fixate on any brand Corsair, Seasonic, EVGA, Antec, XFX, etc all make good powersupplies. As long as it got the right conenctors and wattage you cant realy go wrong with these brands.
Sounds good then for the Be-quiet shadow rock. According to the Be-quiet psu, i could look into which particular board there is inside if needed. Their higher wattage units have allways been decent thats true, about their lower wattage i have seen some bad ones on the past. But ofc past is past.
I allways recommend parts, which i personaly feel comfortable with. But that ofc does not mean that the Be-quiet psu´s are bad by any means. I´m not brand biassed for that matter. Logan has exaly review'd a Be-quiet unit in the past. And that one looks good
Just to understand, mostly because I want to learn, are PSUs actually going to vary on anything except power (and of course consequentially quantity of parts it can power I assume) I found the reviewed one, which seems a lot easier to get a hold of here in italy. If this one is fine, it's gonna save me some money and I think i'll pick it. There's also much cheaper Corsair ones like this one but I'm not sure it's the same.
For the case, do I need to look for any special requirements? I found some Corsair ones like this one which is also soundproof, and it costs half as much. (This one i linked is also a bit less massive than the R5)
Well basicly the most important thing with psu´s is the quality of the parts that are used inside. Basicly every branded psu, should be capable to provide their advertised wattage. However with a highend platform like Haswell-E you basicly dont want to shop on lower budget side of the market. The psu and the motherboard are exaly one of the most important parts of the system. Wenn you psu decide to fail, it can take allot of parts with it. Thats why i would not recommend to cheap out on a psu.
The corsair VS650 is a low budget psu, and sits on the underside of the market. I would personaly not recommend it for a highend setup..
The case you chose is rated for cpu coolers up to 150mm height that is going to be a problem for the dark rock pro 2 and the CRYORIG R1 *edit instead of a large cpu cooler you could buy a 240mm all in one liquid cooler and mount it in the top exhaust of the case
I feel like I'm getting too much attention :D I'd say I'll just stick with the R5 and the Be Quiet PSU to simplify.
In the future I'll look into water cooling.
Seriously I cannot thank you guys enough.
Last thing: the OS. Is Windows 10 viable yet? I heard it came out with some problems, so I'd like to know if it's better for me to stick to 8 for now or just go for 10.
I switched to WIndows 10 on all my machines during preview. The only issues I had were lack of drivers my Xonar DGx soundcard and peripherals. Everthing from Win 8 seems to work and the UI isn't nearly as bad. Personally I like it.
Regarding the Privacy/Personal Data issues Logan made a video how to counteract it.
