All these smart people ? i dont know about you guys sometimes. :)
I used to let XP run for months at a time without locking up or crashing.
And those were good times. Granted I was also running 8 machines each with a different OS.
Had a Vista version run stable for well over 6 months until a windows update crashed it. :( Ram usage at .7 gb at system idle. I was proud of that. Wish i could prove it. Might have to go snoop some old hard drives.
How untrue is it to say Vista uses your PC's resources because RAM isn't for decoration to sit around and do nothing?
Windows 98 SE was the best version. It's been downhill ever since.
I missed off "in the command prompt".
ah, that makes a lot more sense.
I have to say my vista absolutely screamed on a 940 BE oc'ed 3.6 and 3.9 with 8gigs of ddr2 at the time. It ran well enough that I wasn't interested in the next amd and ddr3 offerings for awhile afterwards. Foolishness on my part ?
For me "best Windows" would be 10, but you guys hate that, so I'd probably go with Windows 7.
An enthusiast who is careful, and good at maintenance, can keep an XP system screaming along. For everyone else it usually ends up as a pile of dog poo. I've never had much respect for XP, it was just what I used at the time, and I think people only stuck to it because of it's long service life and the Vista release.
My two cents my windows 7 x64 Home idles at 1.33 ram. I uninstalled gadgets and IE11 and windows folder is almost at 20GBs
Hey ? what monitor are you using ? A big one I hope ! (sorry about your vision............I had my share; collapsed left eye cornea..................) :-(
It's just an average Dell E2414H (24 inches 1080p). One day I'd like to get something like a 34 inch 21:9 monitor with a resolution of 3840x1440 to allow for larger lines of text (less cursor movement), but that won't be any time soon.
I have ONH and Nystagmus. My right eye is around 425:20 while the left is 1600:20 (I get these mixed up all the time, I don't notice much of the difference between the two unless I take the time test them). On a normal day it's too sunny to go outside without squinting or wearing polarized shades.
I don't mind my disability so much as it doesn't really affect my daily life much. I just wish people would stop treating me like an infant. That's all I ask lol
Bunch of stuff you could of iced and still had lighter running os. Depends on your use.
Are you in Canada ? Another of my friend is only capable with his zoom-text and a giant screen................
What else can I "ice" out? I don't use the MS games ill probably start there, Suggestions?
Think about how you use your system. Do you really need print services. I don't even know what remote differential compression means. I am assuming resource hog. :)
I think Windows ME was the best
No offense, but, are you making a joke, or you are serious..............I had such bad experience that i still have a sealed copy of the software.
If so you are one of the few ones that were happy; here in Canada, specially in french it was a disaster.............
Windows ME was the worst OS Ever released. And I mean Ever with a capital E.
So I'm pretty sure skullabyss was joking about it maxcat :P
Windows XP is not the best Windows of all time, but it was one of the most revolutionary versions ever. It's not useful anymore, I still favor 7 personally now, but man was XP good for a very long time.
