Are you building a new PC or just scavenging parts for you friends or family?

I am building my first pc

Yes.

However, I would get twice the amount of RAM, and maybe reach for a 5700X. Replace the Liquid Cooler with an air cooler and you’re already halfway there. Here is what you have proposed, or close to it:

PCPartPicker Part List

Type Item Price
CPU AMD Ryzen 5 5500 $86.54
CPU Cooler GAMDIAS CHIONE M2 (240 AIO) $157.00
Motherboard MSI B450M PRO-VDH MAX $74.98
Memory Silicon Power GAMING 2x8 GB DDR4-3200 CL16 $34.97
Storage TEAMGROUP MP44L 500 GB M.2-2280 PCIe 4.0 $43.99
Video Card Sapphire PULSE Radeon RX 7600 $269.99
Case NZXT H7 Flow $120.44
Power Supply Thermaltake Smart 500W 80+ White $39.95
Total $827.86

So if we tweak that a little, shift some stuff here, pull some stuff there, and do not buy two pizzas and a beer this month, this is what a little optimization will get you:

Now you have a decent budget gaming system for older games that can run quite a few games and will be able to run new games on 1080p medium-low. It isn’t a 1080p destroyer, you want a 7700 XT or 4070 for that, but it is pretty close…

If this is too much, you can shave off $50 and buy the 7600 over the XT variant, and you can downgrade the CPU all the way to the 5500, though I would not go lower than 5600, 5500 does not support PCIe 4.0 which the 7600 benefits quite a bit from.
