I'm looking at getting the Cooler Master Extreme 2 Power Plus 725Watt Power Supply for my upcoming rig, but I'm not sure about the quality of it. Does anyone have one of these and should I trust it? Cheers.
HELL NO! Stay the hell away from all coolermaster psu's. Never, ever, ever buy a cm psu. ever!
LOL, I don't think CM is that bad. It's just that they're not exactly at the top. But they're definitely better than Coolmax or Raidmax.
Well, I think it's a good PSU( I was considering it in one of my first builds), but what's the price? If it's like $60-$100, there are a lot more better choices out there
CM is a decent psu maker. Just do your research. Me and my roommate both have CM 800 psus:

Both are pushing sli setups. My roomates has 24gb of ram and an overclocked 6 core i7. The psu has been nothing less than stable. going on a year+ for him.
As a side note to aid your research, I had a corsair die on me. and my roomate had two corsair psus die on him. lesson learned, never gunna buy corsair again.

CM is a fine brand and so is Corsair. Just because you had ones die on you doesn't automatically make them bad. The quality of the parts is all there, just go to jonnyguru and see for yourself. You'll be fine with the CM PSU dude

@jeffrly- LOL, true. Just because someone had a bad experience on a brand, doesn't mean that brand is horrible.

A friend of mine has a CM psu, but that's a 'cheap ass' build. Personnaly, I'm using the XFX Pro Series, which is, according to most reviews on the internet, (way) better and reliable than the average CM psu.
I was thinking of getting a Corsair VS650, but I saw this for the same $85 price. I started looking at this one because the extra wattage overhead would be good for future upgrades, especially getting an extra graphics card for CrossfireX. What good brands are there for PSUs? Is Thermaltake OK?
