Is the world ready for a Web based Tablet?

Ok so I have been looking at Google's Chrome OS and I think its such an amazing idea but I dont understand why they haven't made a Android Web based as well. I know the ChromeBook and Chrome Box aren't selling very well and I think thats because no one really wants to replace there laptop with something which is almost useless without internet connection, but why haven't they made a Chrome OS tablet? 

Surely people would be more comfortable with replacing there tablet for a 'ChromeSlab'?

The chrome OS is too limiting in what you can do compared to a android tablet ... 

They should merge the 2 and make a laptop running Android with a fittet skin and the high end Nvidia tegra 3 ...

It could be VERY thin and fast for what it is and more productive and with the tegra architecture it should not be the biggest hurdle ...
