Is the R9 270x worth the price tag?

I am really new to this, being my first gaming PC and all that. I have a budget of around £200-£250 and was looking towards the 270x as I've seen many good reviews about it from all sorts of people but I'm wondering if there's anything better for the budget I have?

Apologies if something like this has already been posted but I don't have a clue on how to navigate the website yet.

$250 is well im my price range so I think I'll go for the HAWK edition, thanks!

The 270x is an amazing value. But for the same price you can get a 7950 with 3 free AAA games. I would go with the 7950 only because of the great games.

You should not purchase anything lower than a 7950 or 280x for a single card solution .

I would get the 7950 because it is a better card (the 270X is essentially a 7870)

Anyway if you purchase a 7870 or 270x it will leave you with a need to crossfire to get ultra level performance right out of the box .

Honestly i would stay away from the r9 270x as it is basically a overclocked 7870 that costs more. If you go for a Hawk 270x, your wasting your money. For £200-£250 you could get a 7950, 7970 or a r9 280x.

not everyone needs ultra performance if they are on a budget

mmm , the new middle level card list . Imagine that .

the R9-270X isnt so bad. well right now you're better off with a 7870 but in the coming months it'll be worth it. i have two R9-270x's in Crossfire and its playing games smooth as hell.

Ya, I am getting pretty decent results from my 7870 crossfire .

well it looks like i'll be getting either a 7950 or 7970 then, is there much difference between them?

I would opt for the newer tech. I know you can get better performance levels with older hardware, but it is still a fair price for the 270x. Driver maturity might increase the performance significantly.

+1 MSI Radeon R9 280X Gaming is the best option in the price range.

(pay no attention to 'Mr Expert' he is an ass hat)

i would also go for the Msi R9-280X if you can afford it. a R9-280X is a 7970GHZ edition, a R9-270X is a 7870GHZ edition its still 1280 stream processors v/s 2048 stream processors. no  new tech on this just some new stickers lol ☺

I still don´t understand AMD on the 270X why they did not use the tahiti LE chip, like they did with theire 7870XT with 1536 stream processors.. that was a downsized 7950... thats sadd because a 7870XT was a great value for money that time over a normal 7870 GHZ ed.
