I found this article about the perceived shift from closed to open drivers. I want your thoughts about Nividia. Do you think Nividia will finally open up its drivers?

Yes, because the drivers are now just glorified interfaces to non-free firmware.
The 560 release from today is the first to default to the open drivers on modern chipsets. Older chipsets will likely need to continue using the older proprietary drivers forever.
Isn’t it moving forward for new cards? GTX 9,10 series and RTX 20 series I heard are all stuck on proprietary.
I have heard that, too. But hopefully, going forward, Nvidia graphic cards will become as easy to set up and run on Linux as their AMD counterparts.
