Is it possible to get rid of window borders?

I have been trying to figure out how to do this for a while and am lost. I would like to have my windows 10 machine hide my window borders while NOT fullscreen. Basically I would like just a video playing, a game playing, just a document to show up. So it is a nice smooth looking desktop. A way to hide them would be optimal but anyway is great.

does this make sense? I have not seen anyone do this yet and I have searched a lot. Perhaps I just am not using the correct terminology.

I am thinking of moving to Linux. is this possible on Linux? only thing from me moving is my simracing and OSVR headset.

thanks.

Yes. Possible on Linux.

Does that look like what you want? Oops ... left my Github info on there. Oh well.

Absolutely.

Look through this : https://www.reddit.com/r/unixporn/
to get you into what is possible on Linux.

I would like to get rid of the title bars too. I am not sure what the are called. Ideally they would hide until you put your mouse on the edge. I would like just the contents of the window to show.

While I am sure this is possible, it would require some work.

In the windows (10 or whatever) environment you will not be able to tweak those things so much. But it is possible... probably you will have to buy software like WindowBlinds and such. But i havent tried this stuff in windows 10 yet.

Secondly you better grab an ubuntu ISO and make a boot USB stick or burn DVD. Go do it as i smell you will going to feel like being in heaven when it comes to customize your desktop. No matter if you use GUI gnome or KDE or xfce you will always have more power then you would have had in windows.

Now do not forget if you want to have DUMMY PROVE desktop then stick with windows or mac and forget about customize. Bill gates did all that for you and you should stick with it as you PAYED MONEY FOR IT.

Anyway show a screenshot next time what exactly it is you want.

Good luck & have fun!

Let me make you an analogy. Computer desktops compared to a house.

You can buy a house.. you can tweak it but you bought it as is.

You can build your own house. You going to save a LOT OF CASH!!!

But u need to be willing to roll up your sleeves. You will LOVE it.. the start might be difficult. You have to study a bit... but the house is going to be EXACTLY as u want it to be.

You should look at the time you have. And how important it is for you that you are ABLE to set it to your liking's.

I know many people who bought a house.. plenty of them complain, are not happy and STILL paying for it.

While i know plenty of people who build their own house... THEY ARE ALL HAPPY

go figure :-)

I don't mind buying the software and putting in the time and work I just haven't found anything yet. I will check out windowsblinds. Thanks.

I have not even seen exactly what I am looking for in Linux either. But I am far from seeing what all is possible.

I have used several version of Linux in the past and I really like it. But like I said with my sim racing and OSVR I just can't do it because the support for periphials (sp?) and racing games is just not there. When I build a new PC I am going to look at GPU passthrough for a Windows VM for those two things. But my current system couldn't handle it.

Or I will just have 2 systems one for games and one for everything else.

Thanks for the input folks. It's appreciated.

Give the Windows Metrics settings a go.

Last I tried it and shrunk the border width to 0, it also made the border line dissappear.

This looks to be what you're looking for op.

I think that might be what I need. Thanks I'll explore some more.
