This was a great video. I’m excited to try it someday. Seems like a amazing project!!!

but, no more tech for me for a while…

I though the IPMI add-in PCIE card was cool…this is even more fun to hook up!

IPMI-like thing on any random board,
including low end i3 or ryzen boards,
also with wifi (or even lte) so you don’t waste a network port for once in a while functionality?

... I wonder how low can you go on price ...

instead of a “full-enchilada”, $50 pi4 + $150 hat = $200
can you do what the pikvm website suggests for $30 …

e.g.

  • $10 pi zero wh
  • $5 microsd card
  • $10 hdmi usb capture card on hand
  • $5 worth of phone charger + wire with crimped on connectors so you can toggle rst and power pins directly from pi’s gpio … ? what does the atx spec say - does this need to be isolated?

why not sell a $10 “hat” / parts kit with/for a pi zero?

at that price range - $15, and if available / shippable with prime, I could easily see it selling in the thousands.

I bet you could leave the top off the case and put larger heat sinks on the components to cool I bet. ??? Maybe.

Not sure you could call this a capture card, and HDMI input dongle maybe? It’s around $15
