Invalid ip config

Windows is telling me that i have an invalid ip config. And the I can't get it working. I have tried reinstalling windows, and that didn't work. Also it does work in linux so I don't think it is a hardware issue.

The drivers for the card working in Windows? Does it show up in Device Manager just fine?

Edit:

Also, let's talk about "nuclear options," and how we build up to them.

I am using the built in eithernet port, and I tried things like restoring and such. Also wouldn't reinstalling windows reload the drivers?

It would, assuming that Windows has drivers for the NIC, which is becoming an increasingly rare circumstance.

So since it isn't a driver issue, because it worked on the first install and not the second. Then what should I do?

I'm not convinced it's not a driver issue. It works in Linux, we don't know what was done to the first install (like driver disks loaded or the machine was purchased off-the-shelf so drivers were installed by the OEM) that wasn't done to subsequent installs. Does the NIC show up in the network connections? Does it look fine in Device Manager? Any Unknown Devices, or perhaps the network adapter driver is loaded but has an exclamation mark over it? What's the motherboard/NIC that we're working with and what version of Windows?

would you mind posting your ipconfig stats?

if its not a odd config it could be a conflict with another device on the network

sorry about the bad picks

You're getting an Apipa address (Automatic Private IP Addressing) on your IPv4 stack, meaning your router/dhcp server is not leasing you a private address so windows made its own. Are you connecting directly to your ISP or you're behind NAT? If you're behind NAT, check your router's dhcp server or try to static your network connection to an IP in your subnet, try with the same IP you're getting on linux. Also where does that IPv6 address come from? have you tried opening IPv6 websites?

So I re installed windows again, and it works this time. IDK why, but it does. I am currently updating my Mobo drivers, and found that there is a new driver for my NIC so that my help prevent this in the future.
