Q1 2016 release
MSRP $30 USD

Looks like it's US only.

"The board features a 32-bit Intel® Quark™ microcontroller for minimal power consumption, 384 kB of flash memory, 80 kB of SRAM (24kB available for sketches), an integrated DSP sensor hub, Bluetooth* Low Energy radio, and 6-axis combo sensor with accelerometer and gyroscope."

Saw this and thought it might be of interest to some people here.

Arduino 101 will be available in the first quarter of 2016 for a suggested retail price of US$30 (approximately 27 euros). The Intel-manufactured board will be sold under the Arduino 101 brand in the United States and under the Genuino 101 brand outside the United States

So, it is going to be sold outside US too.

That's great then. I looked at the Intel link and it said US only. Might have been referring to the certifications or the Arduino 101 name. I figured it would be world wide, thought it might be something where they launch it in the US first, then go global.

Ah Intel looks to be trying out for for the industial world. While this board is interesting for makers, the real purpose seems to be to gather interest from industrial electronics companies..

Yeah it's the same board, just with a different name or brand.

Now that I think about it, I think they did this with all of the other boards as well a while ago.

I wonder if it had anything to do with the Edison. They wanted in on the Arduino market considering it already had the name out there. I think Edison is also a bit more expensive where this goes with the standard Arduino Uno price.

One thing I see that this board doesn't do that the Uno did is that the micro controller isn't removable. So if you fry the micro controller, the whole board is dead.
