Installing Windows on a new SSD

I recently got an SSD for my desktop and I would like to install Windows on it and use it as a boot drive, but I don't want to lose what's on my current hard drive.  Is this process just as simple as installing Windows on the new drive and rolling with it, do I need to delete the system files from the old drive, or is there something else I'm missing entirely?
