Installing 2 GPUs in the same Fedora system

Hi,

I’m trying to use 2 old and useless GPUs simultaneously in my Fedora playground system.

One GPU is a GTX760, the other one is a GTX1060. Looking at the RPM Fusion info about installing the driver, I should be installing the version 535 of the nvidia driver for the GTX1060, and version 470 for the GTX760.

I was successful in installing the GTX1060 driver, but I get errors when trying to install the one for GTX760.

I get an error message of the type: driver version 535 conflicts with driver version 470, therefore can’t install.

Since I am new to this (and monkeying around with this so that I can learn by experiment and eventually do the GPU pass through thing) my question is:

  • is this expected? why?
  • is there any way around this? which?
  • does this mean I will not be able to do the GPU pass through thing? (I don’t think so)

Thanks

You cannot have two different versions of the Nvidia driver in n one machine. If you are trying to do a passthrough build then the gpu driver for the respective gpu would go into the vm you are passing that gpu through to.
