This is not a true fact, I own the Zenith Extreme II board and I have had 2 GPU’s installed and booting.

AsMedia SATA controller they put also looks like is not even close to SATA wire speed (not an issue to me). I don’t recall now where I had seen it, but cramming that extra SATA controller, why??

This board does look very nice USB wise.

Here are some informations for the Gigabyte TRX40 AORUS XTREME:

The Board boots fine but I’ve found some problems you can’t disable the soundcard/wifi from BIOS.

Gigabytes Smart Fan 5 doesn’t work really good custom fan curves are sometimes causing the fans to never spin up.
The Normal profiles work mostly but sometimes one of my 3 fans on a splitter doesnt spin reconnecting helps but I have to open the case that’s maybe an issue with the pwm splitter.
Fan Control in Linux is not possible because of the it87 driver which doesn’t get developed anymore.

PCIE superpowersave makes the onboard nvme drive throw errors. The AIC card with 4 nvmes doesn’t work right not all drives are getting full PCIE3 bandwitdh one only gets halfspeed maybe thats better with PCIE4 drives.

Powersaving doesn’t work doing powertop --auto-tune doesn’t save any power. Lowest from the the wall power was like 100W normal 140W with memory overclock ( 3733 MT/s) you can add 40W. acpi_idle doesn’t do much for Threadripper I can run the system with idle=poll in the kernel commandline and the power usage is the same. The power stuff will most likely be a platform issue that was much better on X299.

Performance is really good I can compile my kernel in 31 seconds and gcc with lto and profile build in 12 minutes.

I also played around with NUMA nodes switching to 4 nodes yields better memory performance and much better latency 8ns (72ns) less in AIDA64. But sadly multicore performance seems to go down when I’m doing that.

Probably because this restricts each chiplet to use its own memory.
It is very nice to know that both NUMA and NUMA less modes work reasonably well.

Did you try the it87 driver from the github that was removed though?
Doesn’t work at all?

Couldn’t test VFIO just posted the IOMMU group for Info.

I have the same issue on ASRock TRX40 Creator and 3960x, it maxes out on 3800Mhz on Linux. Running Pop Os 20.04, 5.4 kernel.

Does the 4.5GHz max turbo reflect in cpupower frequency-info output, or elsewhere?
The only thing that mentions 4.5GHz is dmidecode -t 4

	Max Speed: 4550 MHz

Everywhere else it says max is 3800MHz.
I tried resetting bios, clearing CMOS, enabling PBO manually. I also booted windows to uninstall ryzen master as another post said that helped when not getting above 3.8GHz in windows without starting ryzen master after each reboot. None of those have helped.
Which cpufreq driver/governor did you use? Did it add 4.5GHz as another “frequency step”?

Seems like your turbo boost is not active. The boost frequency is not shown in cpufreq. It just goes to 3800 and then applies turbo if active.
