Image tearing/vsync/stuttering

image tearing and micro stuttering really annoy me so was wondering would getting a 120hz+ monitor improve that ? (got to say the nvidia g-sync had me tempted) but using amd at the moment i know they have had a free sync system planned but i do not know anything about it

What kinds of framerates do you normally get in games? because a 120hz+ monitor will only help if you are getting at least 120 fps in a game. Stuttering is usually not a monitor problem, and instead a graphics driver problem, unless you have a bad monitor. And image tearing occurs at any time when the framerate does not match the refresh rate of the monitor.

frame rates are pretty good diablo 3 would be 60fps same with skyrim have v-sync enabled and do get some stutter though so might try a clean install

having v-sync on locks your framerate to your monitor refresh (60hz, 60fps) if you think your graphics card could handle higher frames then it could make everything look smoother but honesty beyond 60hz its debatable. Stuttering in skyrim is due to the game engine, look into stutter reducing mods for your game, they help. When you are moving about the game, rendering objects and loading areas will cause stuttering. having a higher refresh rate monitor would not help.

thanks modern games are barely 60fps older stuff would go higher though

Originally had a 6950 and the stuttering was bad got a 270x and that was a lot better
