I have an older IBM X3650 M3 2U server that I am currently using to process drone photos for mapping. The tag shows it as Machine Type 7945 and it came with two Xenon L5640 hexa-core processors. I would like to see about dropping two Xenon X5675 processors in it as an upgrade. IBM shows this processor as an optional part number for this server, but I am not sure if I would need to update the BIOS or if this would be a drop in upgrade. Looking at some info online, and watching several videos, no one mentions it.
Would anyone here happen to know if this would be a requirement for this upgrade?
As far as other hardware that that is in it:
1 - 500 GB SSD
1 - PNY Quadro M4000
I really should build a new machine to do this, but it’s not in the budget right now.
