Hello everyone got a question that I think I already know the answer too but want to make sure. With the Asus X99-E WS/USB3.1 motherboard I don't need to spend the extra on the i7 6850k for 40-pcie lanes due to PLX chips for fast switching. So in other words spend more on the board and less on an i7 6800k and still have a virtual 40-pcie lanes.

Also does anyone know how well QEMU-KVM would work with this board if I decide to go that route?
Manual (in support section) for that board have an appendix describing the block diagram. As a owner of this board (just non USB3.1) I'm surprised that this board actually do not use 40Lanes from CPU.
Anyway, with PCIe PLX chips it is always a matter that all slots cannot actively use all the bandwidth at the same instance, because of the obvious reason (PLX chip it self has only 16x/8x connection to CPU). But if that would matter, you would be looking at dual Xeon server board instead.
