OK Wendell Winions, I need some help. TLDR; I need help updating my bios and I believe I’ve exhausted all the methods minus using a CH341A to hardware flash it because the ipmi is unreachable.
I bought a GENOAD8UD-2T/X550 board late last year and an Epyc 9015 because it said it supported 9005 not realizing that it only suppored Zen 5 after a bios flash. I unfortunately found this out after I had already installed the cpu and couldn’t get it to post to bios. No worries! I’ve flashed a bios before, I know things or can figure it out! Well I found it its way more complicated than what I had gotten used to on Asus consumer boards. I read the documentation about having to update the IPMI/BMC before updating the bios…I believe I partially updated the BMC/ASPEED AST2600 to 11.02 because I did it with the 9015 still installed. After the install it started acting up, couldnt get it to connect except through CLI. Started looking for different things to try and tried a “raw” reset. After that I could no longer log in to the webui with either a default(assuming the default is still admin/admin) or what i believe to be the configured username and password. So now my BMC and BIOS are mismatched. Fast forward and I procured a Zen 4 9124 and now I can get into the BIOS! So why not use instantflash for the BIOS you say? Every version of the BIOS available on the website doesnt seem to work as when i try to use instantflash it says “invalid file”. I’ve also reset the BIOS to defaults as well as reset the BMC in the BIOS to defaults. The tantalizing thing is when I ping the IPMI’s IP it responds but if I run a port scanner (nmap) it shows that port 80 is filtered and port 443 is closed. I’ve also run through every option/suggestion that Claude has given me and actually got it to give up lol. One of the suggestions Claude did give was to use socflash; but this board apparently doesn’t have a compatibility mode so I can’t load dos and the dos version is the only one that I can download from Asrock. Am I missing something? Any help would be greatly appreciated!
