But as you can see from my Avatar, I have a iBook G3 and I was a real fan of their PowerPC stuff, but I'm not even talking about the transition to Intel, I'm talking about the designs.
The Trash Can is a downgrade from the previous dual CPU design and hasn't been refreshed, the iMac is OK, it's a hell of a better deal than the XPS 27, I'll give it that much, but now, they're more pretentious than ever.
Tim Cook complained that there are so many people using 5 year old PCs when they sell four year old laptops as if they were brand new, making whoever buys the 13 inch Macbook Pro now, somebody that has a 5 year old Computer in a year! they also have the audacity to paint their shit gold. Really?! Fucking Gold?! You can't get more pseudo-High Class "I'm going to try to look rich because it's cool to be rich" than that.
So, my question is: What do you think of this?
I think the mighty will fall, people said it couldn't happen to GM and it can happen to anybody.
They are taking advantage of the fact that the average consumer doesn't know shit to the wise.
Yeah, they sell 5 year old hardware, but the fact is, most people's workload doesn't exceed the practical use of such hardware. Example? The average user only web surfs and word processes, maybe some video. I once read that most consumers don't do anything past 3.2GhZ and I would say that is probably right, because even with a video, webpage, and word processor going at the same time I doubt you would hit 3.2GhZ bottleneck.
@DeusQain once mentioned a RAM upgrade that would have cost like 600$ per unit on the tek if I remember right
Doesn't really surprise me though. The design is decent I guess but the hardware price to performance is lackluster. You can't expect much from consumers though, paint that shit gold and it sells. Maybe I should paint these optiplexes with SSDs gold.... hmmm
@wendell has also mentioned numerous times in videos and TeamPGP streams this same problem. I believe he was talking about an iMac?(a configurable mac anyway if that's wrong) And how Ceteris Peribus (idk if i spelled that right... it's latin for all else held equal) an 8GB ram model is $600 cheaper than a 32GB model.
Apple is a disgustingly greedy company and broke the all time record a little while ago for being the most profitable in a quarter... beating out ExxonMobil (which is in the oil industry...) how the hell do you become more profitable than oil when OPEC was running wild... By being evil yourself.
Now, I used to be indifferent towards Apple... but in becoming much more knowledgeable about computer hardware I, as many of us here, have come to realize just how much Apple screws the consumers and holds the industry back.
I have my ibook. I don't exactly care about a company, I care about what I have. I see all the politics about companies and its stupid to me. I have the mac I love, I don't care that much.
