I enjoyed reading the Asahi Linux progress report

This was an incredibly fun read:

Highlights for me:

  • using another usb-c mac, or a custom device to debug the boot and funky usb-pd stuff
  • cpu power management
  • posted writes / ioremap / MMU differences compared to x86
  • interrupts controller
  • KVM support
  • long list of folks making progress on other parts of the hardware
  • penguins
  • the blog post was very nicely worded - article like quality and an easy read despite high density of information

Looking forward to the next episode.

Asahi…what? Does the Japanese beer brand now has its own linux distro? :stuck_out_tongue:

Don’t know if Hector likes that beer - might be cool to get sponsorship. Apparently Asahi is a type of apple in Japanese.

Practical joke from Wikipedia:

“Rebranding”
On April 1, 2021 the distribution “rebranded” itself as “Genchu” with the logo edited to appear as a kawaii anthropomorphic-mouse, satirizing the anime and furry fandoms. The prank also satirized the adoption of systemd in other GNU/Linux distributions by temporarily setting it as the default init in their stage3 tarballs.

I wouldn’t be surprised because I know marcan is using Gentoo, and thought it was a real Gentoo variant (like many others). Sadly no, it was a joke.

@lurk3r welcome !
