I like to fall asleep during astronomy documentations. And Isaac has like 500+ cool episodes on everything astronomy, futurism and science (sometimes with fiction)

From space lifts, FTL, megastructures, how to survive as a civilization after a trillion years when all suns burned their fuel or how to house 3 trillion people on earth and post-apocalyptic/post-scarcity economies.

He’s keeping it scientific and reasoned and I like it. Without selling you VPNs and all that typical YT bullshit.

Forgot to mention, Bright Sun Films - YouTube

You’re in for a treat, just rediscovered this guy, Robert Murray-Smith. Absolutely relentless energy, applied intelligence, and wit.

Honestly I agree. I used to watch creators who cared about the platform. Now it seems its about making money, rather than having a hobby. Kind of the meme of the world right now.

I’ve been finding old CD’s I burned and have been reading them to see whats on it. That got me wanting to learn about CD’s, so I ended up binge watching Tech Conn last night. Really great channel if you want to find something new to learn about.

He also showed me what tapes go in a colorado 120! So now I can use an old tape reader I have, IF, I can find some tapes… Hoping tech recycle has some or something. Maybe FB junk sales, I guess yard sales are starting again.

This board is really restrictive in just letting me post something simple…

this guy is a f*****ing coding wizard. He wrote a RISC-V emulator in just 400 lines. This allows running non-mmu linux on something like ESP32.

Ebay

yeah Robert is probably one of the last true youtube creators from the old days (pre corporate) youtube. I’m waiting on his steam engine build with less and less patience.

Multiple categories to choose from loke classoc games.

Retro games are great to watch as well.

I enjoy seeing Linux boot on low-speed computers, that aren’t compatible with other systems.

Seeing Linux boot on smartphones is nice as well.

LMAO It seems everyone watches the same 100 or so channels.

Well this nerd forum isn’t exactly a general population sample so that doesn’t seem TOO surprising.

Not sure if my regulars other than Issac Arthur were mentioned yet but some other good nerd channels which I would expect to see here (Odysee links instead because it’s not YT):

…of course starting with a Linux channel:

I don’t think I’ve seen Dave’s Garage posted before, but admittedly I didn’t bother looking either.

I know that @0xDE57 already mentioned TheThoughtEmporium before, but now the dude’s trying to develope a MEAT LASER.

Yeah, you heard me right, a LASER… made out of meat!

yeah I watched that video? I was not impressed.

They’re the only good ones all the other ones are noise.

I try to specifically find channels under 10K. When a YT channel is a passion, not a job, thats when its actually good. When its a job, all the idiots sound the same. I’ll find some examples here in a little while to post

Actually just low numbers in general.

I have been getting more and more into the music industry. I heard about this beef for a bit, never saw what actually happened. Well, heres what happened.
