Hyper 212 EVO vs Plus

Hope this is the right section...

I've read that the 212 Plus has a weird gap that the thermal paste sticks in between each heatpipe. I'm getting a new CPU, and want a cooler with it, so I want to know... Is there a trick to applying thermal paste for a 212 Plus vs the EVO variant?

(note, the 212+/EVO, are only the best BUDGET heatsink for its price range, the TCP 812 and the Phanteks-big-jumbo-confusing-name heatsink would be way better)
