HPE P822 RAID Controller without cache and battery

Hey guys, hope everyone is well.

I got my hands on a very cheap HPE P822 RAID Controller, but it’s without cache and battery. I was going to try using it as a HBA for ZFS, but unfortenately the controller won’t even post correctly, when the system UEFI is starting it. It seems like it will only do that with the cache and the battery attached.

Did anybody get this controller to work without said cache and battery? Or maybe someone has an idea. I don’t want to buy something, which I ultimately won’t use.

Cheers!
