HP Officejet 4500 G510n-z driver problem

Hey guys, hope you’re all well.

I have a notebook with elementary OS on it and a HP Officejet 4500 G510n-z connected via USB. The combo worked absolutely fine for several years now, but since recently it basically began to print an offset shadow for every character. The driver is the default hplip from the official apt sources, which was not updated for at least a year.
The printer prints just fine, when I connect it to Windows or when I switch to “black only greyscale”. When I copy on the printer itself, without action from my notebook, it works as well.

Does somebody have an idea as to why this is happening?

Cheers!

Hm… Maybe the latest version of HPLIP might do the trick? Here’s the direct link: https://developers.hp.com/hp-linux-imaging-and-printing/gethplip

I will try that as soon as I can. Thanks!
