How to make OVMF display on-screen?

i am passing through a GPU to a guest and it works, but OVMF and grub do not display anything, the graphics card goes unused until the guest OS starts using it and then the monitor turns on. i can access OVMF by using virsh console form the host, but is there any way to enable OVMF to use a passed-through graphics card? here is my XML file for the VM in question.
the graphics card is host device 48

the card itself works fine and i can game on this guest, i just am very annoyed at the monitors not showing anything until the guests kernel loads amdgpu.

You have set the following?

i had previously, thought removing it might help. instead it makes no difference.

What are you doing. Does Looking Glass work with Linux guests? Are you trying to see OVMF on an actual attached screen or via Looking Glass?

i use LG on this guest to view the windows guest on the same host. VM to VM. i want OVMF to output directly to the physical monitor.

I am asking this because LG, on the guest VM, will only display video output as soon as the driver is loaded by Windows in the other guest VM, which is after OVMF is done. The screen attached directly to the GPU passed through to the Windows VM should display OVMF. At least I can say that my 6900XT does this. I see a little Tianocore logo when I boot and have a screen attached. When I have no boot media inserted into the VM I land in OVMF’s interactive shell.

yes, thats exactly what i want. how do you make the tianocore logo appear on the physical monitor?

i can confirm grub doesnt even see the physical GPU, possibly neither does OVMF. very strange since i am able to game on this VM which means the passthrough is working. is there a step i missed in configuring OVMF?

updated OVMF. no change. still cant get it to display. nor can i find any documentation to locate OVMF’s display settings.
