How to get setup my Astro A40 surround sound

Hey guys,

Just got my Astro headphones and mixamp and plugged them in but I am unsure on the windows and audio settings.

I installed the realtek audio drivers and updated my firmware on the mixamp.

I went to go on the realtek control panel and found I could use the 5.1 DTS audio settings but all I get is a clicking noise in my left ear.

When I change the audio device to the Astro headset I get the surround sound but I think the right surround and left surround channels.

Here's how I think it works; It takes 5.1 DTS sound from the optical and takes it to the mixamp where it is converted into 7.1 surround?

Can anyone confirm this or give me advice on how to get the best sound out of my motherboard, mixamp, a40 combo.

Ive been using a40 with mixamp since 2013, and yh i think you can only get the 5.1 , no sure if it turns it to 7.1 on the mix amp. And from experience that doesnt make that much of a diference, and most games only support 5.1 so i dont think you need to worry about that.
