I installed the AMD proprietary drivers from their website a couple months ago, and recently it switched to VESA:Tahiti drivers. I want to enable the propriety drivers in order to play games and it seems like it is not recognizing that they are installed. How can I enable the proprietary drivers without re-installing them?

usually you boot into recovery mode from the GRUB menu and enter the terminal. There, you login and type: sudo aticonfig --initial and reboot after it completes. That SHOULD resolve it.
