I know that this isn't really a common thing to do, i also know that it might not be in the correct forum section but its close enough.
I need to change the MAC address of my computer to a specific value, because of software that i have bought from the university. the software in question uses a license key that uses your MAC address, that you told the IT support when you bought the software.
Well i recently bought a new motherboard and processor and this means that my MAC address has changed. and i would really love to know EXACTLY how to change it to what i would like it to be. i know that it can be done in the registry, but i don't really want to go poking around in there when I'm not hugely experienced.
I have tried using a piece of software called "SMAC 2.0" and this worked well for the on board Ethernet connection which is what the software originally used, but now it is using the MAC address from the wireless card (if you interested its a TP-Link TL-WN881ND) and this software cannot seem to change the MAC address for this card.
just to be clear, i could easily solve this by going to IT support and requesting a new License, but i don't want to do that, because i don't want to bow down to there judging ways! also it kinda interests me to find out how to do stuff like this.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
