Home Lab on old tech

Hello.

I’m new on the homelab corner, but I have a successful TrueNas experiment.

I was researching on putting more stuff into the machine and saw it was not a good idea to put everything inside their docker instance. So I wanted some opinions.

First, the PC specs:

Asrock Z87 Extreme4
i7 4770k
2x 4gb DDR3 1333Mhz
GTX 1050 ti
2.5gbps Realtek Lan Rj45 Pcie X1

I had to buy a motherboard and a PSU, due to a lightning strike, at the start of 2023. So I want to reuse my old PC.

What I want to do with it is PROXMOX with the following:

  • Debian Server - with Unbound, Netbird and Pihole

  • TrueNAS Scale - with Syncthing

  • Debian Server - with Frigate and qBittorrent client (this one will need to be isolated)

  • Home Assistant

  • Debian Server - with KeePassXC, Uptime Kuma, Network UPS Tools, Fluxer server, etc.

I’ll be passing through the motherboard ethernet port, with a separate POE switch that has Vlan and Uplink. That with the 1050 ti will go for Frigate recognition.

I’m not sure how much RAM do I need. And if its better to put the first server into something like an Orange Pi RV2.

Trying to work with what I have, but I can buy 2x 16gb RAM and the RV2, if really needed. Just trying to get out of my solo research bubble and not spend more money than absolute needed.

Appreciate any help.
