I bought used ssds on ebay. Is it possible to upgrade the firmware on these HITACHI HUSMH842 CLAR200 200GB drives ?
there is current EMC firmware on them.
Are there any other modifications done by EMC except firnware ? from the original hgst drives?
Sorry i dont have your answer but I bought a lot of the same used drives and thought we might collaborate here.
I have 8 of them connected to a Broadcom 9500-16i in a truenas scale box, and am troubleshooting as root in a tty. I’ve only gotten as far as ensuring my HBA firmware and bios are up to date, and inspecting using storcli, lsblk, and /sys/class/block. They’re all showing up with a zero byte size, 4160B physical sector size, and 512B logical sector size.
I’m wondering if you made any progress with checking end updating the firmware in yours?
