Hi guys I’m having a problem with my new setup and was hoping someone here might have some insight that might help solve my problem. So I got the Asus Pro Sage WRX80 workstation motherboard seen here:
and it came with the M.2 PCIe expansion card seen here:
The problem is that I cant get any operating systems to see more than one NVME attached to it at a time. I only have 2 in it at the moment and was hoping to JBOD them so that I could use a software defined RAID configuration. I was thinking maybe I had to enable SR-IOV in UEFI to bifurcate the slot to get access to both but that did not work either. I have tried in both Linux and Windows but to no avail. I use Arch btw. Any suggestions?
You’ll want to set it to 4x4x4x4x
Note that most often, the PCIe slot ID closest the CPU starts with 1, and increases from there, however on some boards (Like my Tyan S8030) it’s the exact opposite.
Edit
I just found something else on pg 33,
Use PCIE Raid mode when installing the Hyper M.2 x16 card…
Everyone else calls it Bifurcation which makes for easy searching, but Asus wanted to feel cool instead, so now it’s a pain in the ass to find. This caused problems for someone else here as well.
Im going to be following this thread, recently got myself a TR Pro machine aswell and looking to use a M.2 PCI card to be able to RAID a few 980 Pro ssds
This did it! Thank you so much. I read the manual and had looked through all of that but thought the PCIe RAID mode was to enable hardware RAID which would make it read multiple drives as one and do the opposite of what I wanted but you were right. They just relabeled bifurcation.
