Help Needed: Precise PCIe Slot and Bracket Placement Specifications for Custom Case Design

Hi everyone,

I’m designing my own computer case that fits a 19” rack but can also be used on a desk. However, I’ve run into a problem with the placement of PCIe slots. I can’t seem to find any documentation that precisely describes their positioning. Not to mention details about the construction of PCIe expansion cards or where the cutouts for PCIe brackets should be located on the back of the case relative to the motherboard.

When I started this project, I assumed this was common knowledge and that I’d quickly find a specification with all the necessary dimensions. But all I managed to find was a PDF with the layout of a motherboard featuring AGP and classic PCI slots (not PCIe), and even that document didn’t clarify where the cutouts for the back of the case should be.

I also stumbled upon some links to documentation on intel.com, but I couldn’t access the specified locations. Intel seems to hate me—the only thing I see is a login prompt, even though I’ve logged in multiple times, using different accounts…

If anyone could point me to documentation or specifications that could help me move this project forward, I’d be eternally grateful.

Yeah, often this kind of normative documentation is behind access walls, only exposed to businesses. But some still could be found elsewhere, like this PCIe electromechanical spec
