Healthy lunches that don't break the bank?

I've been eating was too much fast food. Albeit it's delicious, it's breaking the bank and making me a little but fatter.

What are some cheap food one can prepare before hand to eat at the office that are healthy but don't break the bank

@GigaBusterEXE This can be your thread aswell, feel free to edit this post with your stuff

bahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha

any ideas for cheap lunches pasta doesn't hold well refridgerated and this fast food is killing my bank account

Pb&j or bologna sandwiches, use bananas as a side they are cheap as fuck.

I generally bring leftovers from dinner for lunch.

I'm sad that my first thought that I had when I saw bologna sandwiches was "that's expensive"

way better than fast food though so I'll start there and work my way cheaper

less sandwich more banana then. lol
there's also something called potted meat (it comes in a can) which my best friend swears by for sandwiches, however I cannot attest to its taste.

Cold cuts be had for cheap... Way cheaper than fast food. You can get a pound of bologna, turkey, ham, ect... for $3-8, depending on the brand, at most supermarkets. That is probably enough to get you through a week.

Also things like tuna can be had for cheap. Chicken/egg salad can be made up as well for not very much.

I alternate between almond butter on multigrain toast and canned salmon. Relatively cheap ways of getting protein in your diet. Don't eat white bread, because simple sugars like that aren't filling. Some cheap vegetables on the side like cherry tomatoes or carrots are good as well.

its never the same after you refrigerate it

In conclusion most cheap food is a sandwich.

Maybe pasta but is that all you seriously have for dinner every night? Even then, I'd deal with it. Fast food everyday is incredibly unhealthy and expensive.

how much ARE banana's I always assumed it would be expensive since its a fruit

it's the cheapest fruit there is, 50 cents a pound most places. I just grab them from Circle K (a gas station for those who don't know) they are 49 cents a pound, I also get most of the pop I drink from there the cost to ounce ratio is a bit cheaper than a 12 pack.

Not trying to be rude, but have you ever gone to a grocery store and shopped for yourself?

Like I know it can be daunting but seriously talk to someone you know with experience like your parents or friends or the like and have them take you shopping one day. You'll see how to shop. You'll see what things cost and what are good deals. You'll learn to use coupons and cook for yourself.

Find some simple and quick recopies. There are tons that can be made with minimal ingredients in under 20min and are very tasty and can provide you with lunch the next day. You'll be eating better, saving money, and be happier.

This. I mostly don't shop/cook out of laziness but it's important to know how especially if you want to have a nice date but are flat broke.

-does math
THATS LIKE THREE CENTS AN OUNCE!

my cheapo spaghetti is like 4.6 cents an ounch and it has to be complimented with expensive spaghetti sauce

so can you have too much potasium? what would be the maximum amount of banana's you could eat in a day?

I'm pretty sure potassium doesn't need to be eaten in moderation so go bananas.

pulled from WebMD

There is no set upper limit for potassium. So it's not clear exactly how much potassium you can take safely. However, very high doses of potassium can be deadly.

I would say it's safe to assume you won't eat 10 pounds a day yes?

this says it can but doesn't really tell you why or how many

Make your own. Get a pan. Throw in some tomato paste and tomato sauce, some onion, garlic, basil, oregano and green pepper. Heat. In a separate pan brown some ground beef. Drain. Mix with tomato base. Done. 15min max.

That should give you a shit ton of sauce depending on how much you decide to make. It can be easily frozen or jarred for later use. Total cost of ingredients is probably about $3 and gives you the same amount of sauce as 3-4 jars of pre made stuff.

Cooking is easy and doesn't have to take long. Will always taste better, be cheaper and healthier than store bought shit. People are just afraid to do it because it seems daunting. It really isn't.
