I’m going off to college soon, and I’m looking to buy myself some new Headphones which will be used mainly on my PC for listening to music, watching movies, & playing games. I’m trying to find something in my price range, maybe a little more if it’s really necessary. I’m trying to lean away from open back headphones, as from what I understand noise bleed is a problem with those, so I’m looking more for something closed back and over the ear.
Also, I’d prefer something with a detachable cable.
In a similar position to you, I currently use a pair of PX360 bt's by sennheiser which I like. They are over the ear headphones yet are rather small and are easily portable. They are big enough for my ears (my friends Ath-M50x's the driver rubs against my ears) so they should fit most people.
They have a bluetooth or cabled connection which when I'm walking around are really useful as I don't have wires getting in the way and I can keep my phone in a zipped pocket which can deter pick pockets if you are in busy urban areas.
As far as the sound goes I find it pretty good and I've had them on full volume (loud enough for me to drum with them on and still hear the music) and the people around me cannot hear the music.
The sound quality is good for listening to music but not for serious sound work, I've used them for technical theatre work just fine but as far as mixing goes they arent really a reference design so they arent made for that.
The build quality of the headphones is great, I was given mine off of a friend who upgraded to an expensive set of bose noise cancelling headphones. Unfortunately he had lost the carry case for them so when I carry them (all weekdays) they are in the top of my rucksack, other than a little bit of the head band lining coming away they are showing few signs of wear and tear for a heavily used and travelled set of headphones.
Seeing as they are a little bit old now I'm sure you'll be able to find a pair of them online or one of the newer variants of this product online within your price range and if you have any questions regarding them I'm normally able to reply pretty quickly.
